Obituary

            Mary Ann Lewis, 76, of Wellsville, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law’s house in Wellsville, with her loving family by her side.

            Mrs. Lewis was born August 26, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Thomas Leo and Sarah Emily (Harris) Ward.

            Mary Ann was a graduate of Wellsville-Middletown R-1 High School.

            On June 8, 1963 in New London, Missouri, she married Bobby Wayne Lewis, Sr, sharing over 37 years of marriage together.  He preceded her in death on September 13, 2000.

            Mary Ann had lived in the Wellsville and Montgomery City area since 1963.  She was a homemaker and housewife.  In earlier years, Mary Ann had worked as a ward secretary at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico for 10 years.  She had also babysat in her home.

            Mary Ann had attended Church of the Resurrection in Wellsville, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montgomery City.

            She enjoyed sewing and embroidering.  Mary Ann also liked cooking and making candy.  She liked going to the casino when she had a chance.

            Mary Ann is survived by her children and their spouses, Joan Darlene “Joannie” and Jeffrey Rexroad, of Gautier, Mississippi, Deborah Lynn and Kenny Gessman, of Wellsville, Thomas Allen Lewis, of Middletown, Patrick Aaron and Becky Lewis, of Wellsville and Gregory Andrew Lewis and Carolyn Hoang, of Troy; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Christina (Charles) Gruber, of St. Louis, Martin (Debra) Ward, of Columbia, Dennis (Dennece) Ward, of Vandalia, Florence Marie (John) Lynn, of Center, Eddie Ward and Janet May, of Fulton; in addition to several nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Wayne Lewis, Sr.; son, Bobby Wayne Lewis, Jr.; grandsons, Robert Wayne Lewis and Christopher Lee Lewis; sister, Elsie Mae Frey; brother, Reggie Householder and brothers and sisters, George Ward, Ruth Reinholz, Thomas Ward, Jr., Margaret Collier and Leo Ward.

            Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.  Father Paul Hartley officiated.

            Visitation was held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the funeral home.        

            Burial was in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Center, Missouri.  Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Lewis, Sr., Patrick Lewis, Gregory Lewis, Jacob Sewell, Justin Sewell, Brandon Benney, Thomas Lewis, Jr., Tobias Gessman, Tyler Lewis and Chase Lewis.  Honorary pallbearers were Zachary Lewis, Brandon Hill, Gavin Hill, Tristin Hill, Ryder Lewis, Kenny Gessman, John Collins and John Vaughn. 

            Memorial contributions were suggested to the American Cancer Society c/o Myers Funeral Home, 203 East Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
