Micheleangelo “Mike” Jaccarino, 82, of Wellsville, formerly of Mexico, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Audrain in Mexico, Missouri.
Mr. Jaccarino was born September 25, 1937 in Arco Felice, Italy, a son of Felice and Anna Monte Iaccarino.
In March 1973 in New York, New York, he married Emma Katherine Whalen, sharing 47 years of marriage together.
Mike and Emma have lived in Mexico since 1988. Prior to that, they lived in Wellsville and Lake of the Ozarks.
Mike had been the manager as well as a self-employed business owner of restaurants over the years. He had worked at The Lodge of Four Seasons and Tan-Tar-A at Lake of the Ozarks as well as the Villa Inn in Mexico. Mike was the owner and operator of the Corner Cupboard in Wellsville.
In earlier years, Mike had played youth professional soccer in Italy, until an injury prevented him from continuing to play. He was instrumental in starting the first soccer teams in the Wellsville and Martinsburg areas.
He loved reading, especially Louis L’Amour books and watching westerns. Mike also enjoyed watching soccer.
Mike is survived by his wife, Emma Katherine Jaccarino, of Wellsville; children, Michelle Ebers and husband, Vince, of Wellsville, Mikey Jaccarino, of Kansas City, Kansas and Anna Rita Nickens and husband, Paul, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Kori Wilson, of Santa Rosa, California, Nicholas Ebers, of Wellsville, Clayton Ebers, of Wellsville, Steven Ebers, of Martinsburg, Jadin and Katherine Nickens, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Ani and Luca Jaccarino, of Warrensburg; brothers, Vittore, of Naples, Italy and Antonio, of Adelaide, Australia and sisters, Maria, of Naples, Italy and Rita, of Adelaide, Australia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Luigi Iaccarino.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg. Father Austin Okoli officiated, assisted by Deacon Ron Deimeke. Serving as organist was Palmyra Dubbert. Cantor was Patty Fennewald.
Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, Monday, at the church.
Burial was in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Wellsville. Serving as pallbearers were Clayton Ebers, Nicholas Ebers, Steven Ebers, Vince Ebers, Jadin Nickens and Paul Nickens.
Services were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
