            Richard Lee “Chub” Debo, 83, of Wellsville, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Audrain in Mexico, Missouri, with his loving family by his side.

            Mr. Debo was born November 30, 1936 in Mexico, Missouri, a son of Floyd William and Cora Jane (Hudlin) Debo. 

            Chub was a 1954 graduate of Wellsville High School.

            He served his country in the United States Navy, entering on September 28, 1954 and being honorably discharged on December 29, 1957.  Chub then served in the Navy Reserves until September 26, 1962.

            On July 2, 1960 at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Wellsville, Missouri, he married Mary Edress Pyatt.  They shared over 47 years together and were the parents of five children, before she preceded him in death on April 19, 2007.

            Chub had lived in Wellsville all of his life.  He worked at the Wellsville Firebrick for many years, working several different jobs, the most recent one was a kiln specialist.  He retired on April 1, 1999.

            He was a member of the Wellsville United Methodist-Presbyterian Church and Sportsman Lake. 

            Chub was an avid Pittsburg Steelers and Pittsburg Pirates fan.  He enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and going on nature walks.  One of his favorite times of the year was the annual family Debo vacation that he got to share with his family.  He also loved going to Lost Valley Lake with his family.  Chub enjoyed driving around the countryside looking for his perfect home in the country.  

            Chub is survived by his five children and their spouses, Catherine and John Orf, of Columbia, Carole and Mark David, of Wellsville, LeeAnn and Nick Paladin, of Mexico, Laura Kemp, of Wellsville and Nathan Debo and fiancée, Holly Schudel, of Wellsville; eleven grandchildren, Emily (Ron) Brandt, of Montgomery City, Jessica Bryson, of Montgomery City, Jennifer and Chris List, of High Hill, Holly Stotler, of Fulton,  Derek and Ashley Foreman, of Montgomery City, Kaitlin and Alex Paladin, of Mexico, Lexi Kemp and Austin Debo, of Wellsville and Lilly and Maggy Debo, of Wellsville; step-grandchildren, Caden Tremblay and fiancée, Lauren, of Jefferson City and Ivy Tremblay, of Mexico; three great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter, Evan Bryson, of Montgomery City, Nolan List, of High Hill and Starlyn and Oliver Foreman, of Montgomery City and special friend, Ruby Cattell, of Warrenton.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Cora Debo; wife, Mary Debo; grandson, Logan Foreman; two infant grandchildren and three infant great-grandchildren.

            Private family funeral services were on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Bill Debo officiated.

            Burial was in the Wellsville Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Mark David, Derek Foreman, John Orf, Alex Paladin, Nick Paladin and Mike Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren, Emily Brandt, Jessica Bryson, Jennifer List, Holly Stotler, Katie Paladin, Austin Debo, Lexi Kemp, Lilly Debo, Maggy Debo, Caden Tremblay and Ivy Tremblay. 

            Full Military Honors were provided by Wellsville VFW Post 3056.  Missouri Military Funeral Honors folded and presented the United States Flag to his son. 

            Memorial contributions were suggested to the Wellsville Cemetery Association or the Wellsville United Methodist-Presbyterian Church c/o Myers Funeral Home, 203 East Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
